Jamil El-Imad, PhD
Jamil is an entrepreneur, technologist and author. As an IT specialist, Jamil has worked on developing IBM technology solutions in the pharmaceutical, industrial and commercial sectors. He is now applying his IT and computing expertise to healthcare with a view to bringing innovations to patients, research and healthcare professionals that will accelerate the understanding and treatment of myriad psychiatric and neurological disorders. Jamil has an MBA and PhD from the University of Leicester. He is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Imperial College London, a Fellow at the Institution of Engineering and Technology London, the Chief Executive Officer of W Investments AG, a private wealth management company, and the Chairman of Virtually Live US Inc, a new-age 3D media company.
Jesús is a computer scientist, technologist and inventor committed to the development of ICT hardware and software that deliver meaningful and sustainable impact in all facets of daily life ranging from healthcare to live events entertainment. He has a broad yet deep knowledge of cutting-edge hardware platforms, middleware, 3D media and systems development tools, and leads the technology research and development teams at NeuroPro with a determination to develop the most advanced, innovative, yet intuitive brain data capture and analysis solution. He has advised numerous organisations on capacity planning, digital security, cloud computing and enterprise web development and is the Chief Technology Officer at both White Feather Technologies and Virtually Live US Inc, and the co-inventor Virtually Live.
Samuel Ewing, EngD
Sam is a neuroscientist, physicist and bioengineer with many years experience in international neuroscience research and medical technology, specialising in electrophysiology and neuromodulation. This has included extensive algorithm development for feature detection and artefact removal in electrophysiological signals with applications covering seizure detection in epilepsy, tic detection in Tourette syndrome and algorithms for closed-loop electrical and optogenetic brain stimulation devices. Additionally he has considerable expertise in electronic design and a broad knowledge of neurological and psychiatric disorders including, epilepsy, Tourette syndrome, depression, schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He gained his Master in Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh before completing an Engineering Doctorate in Medical Devices at the University of Strathclyde.
Laura Mooney, PhD
Laura is a life scientist with international experience across preclinical and clinical science in academia and industry. She spent several years in preclinical research at AstraZeneca and Bayer, before moving into healthcare regulation, research ethics and medical communications. She has worked in pharmacovigilance with Roche, and on a combined medical device and gene therapy project for optical brain stimulation, in which she coordinated regulatory and ethical activities. Additionally, she has developed patient and public engagement programmes and managed external relations with funding bodies, voluntary organisations, community and patient groups, health regulators and ethics boards. She received her MSci Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow followed by her PhD from the University of Strathclyde.
Teresa Sollfrank, PhD
Teresa is a biologist with a strong background in neuroscience. She has many years experience working with psychologists, software engineers and neurobiologists in the interdisciplinary field of EEG (electroencephalogram) research. This has included the development of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) that translate the modulation of sensory motor rhythms into control signals that drive a computer output. Additionally, she has considerable expertise in the implementation of neurofeedback as a cognitive rehabilitation tool for patients suffering from schizophrenia or after stroke. She received her Diploma in biology from the University of Wuerzburg followed by her Ph.D. in Neuroscience. She has contributed to several EU funded projects and participated in international neuroscience research in Australia, Spain and the Netherlands.
Hemera is an internationally experienced management professional with an industry and investment background with many years experience in strategy, business development, pricing and health economics. She has held corporate development and management roles at Sanofi, Novartis and Tectus Group and joined NeuroPro after obtaining her MBA from IMD. Hemera is a graduate of Melbourne University in Science and Commerce. In addition to her position at NeuroPro, Hemera is a Senior Advisor at FFC Fincoord Finance Coordinators, a privately-owned consulting firm offering financial and strategic advisory and management services.
Nabil is a computer and communications engineer, and a management consultant with many years experience in information management, data mining, filtering technologies, knowledge discovery systems, neural networks, enterprise computing and resource planning. He leads the team developing data analysis and mining of large multidimensional data optimised for rapid and scalable deployment in highly parallel cloud computing architectures. He is passionate about leveraging these new technologies to deliver substantial benefits for healthcare research. Nabil has an MBA from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada and a Computer and Communications Engineering degree from the American University of Beirut.
Daniel Lo Giudice
Daniel is a 3D designer and technologist. After studying engineering at university, Daniel had several years of production experience in the film and television industry before switching his focus to product design. Working on many consumer and medical products from concept to manufacturing, Daniel has developed a very broad skill-set. He is also very knowledgeable in IT systems and hardware. Now based in Zurich, Daniel is the Laboratory Manager and Design Consultant at W Science Laboratories AG, a multi-disciplinary company driving innovation at the interface of computer science, healthcare and virtual reality.
Abbas is a cloud solutions architect with decades of experience in developing and delivering enterprise grade ICT solutions and professional services to vertical industries across the USA, Europe and the Arabian Gulf. He is passionate about leveraging his advanced cloud development skills for developing mobile big data and parallel computing applications in healthcare using Amazon web services, Java SDKs, Spring framework, Hazelcast, Apache Spark, RDD and Scala. He is a certified Apache Spark Certified Developer, Amazon Web Services Solution Architect AWS-ASA-1510, SCJP2, EJB2.0 and Java 2 certified, and a Weblogic server certified developer.
Nehme is a cloud support engineer with extensive experience of setting up and maintaining very large compute and storage clusters in multiple cloud services and providers. He is driven to deploy his expertise with large scale multiprocessor servers and PHP development to deliver the next generation of cloud-computing infrastructure to address contemporary healthcare challenges. With many years’ experience in the IT industry across companies spanning retail, medical research, e-commerce and advertising he has designed, implemented and maintained networks systems and data-center presence for a multitude of online companies.
Karan is a software developer with extensive experience in the design and development of scientific software and applications on iOS, desktop and the web. He has developed software for algorithmic trading, computational neuroscience and biomedical applications and is committed to the development of applications that contribute to the solution of the big data challenges facing modern healthcare. He holds a bachelor degree in civil engineering from Thapar University, India.
Carmelo Villegas Cruz
Carmelo is a software engineer with a strong focus on mobile technologies particularly in iOS enterprise development in which he is an expert in developing high-performance yet user-friendly applications. He has significant knowledge in every phase of software development from ideation, design and testing to final implementation on desktop, web-based, mobile and cloud applications. He is proud and excited to be able to apply these expertise in developing software solutions that will accelerate research and promote genuine benefit in some of medicines least understood conditions. He holds a bachelor degree in software engineering from the University of Seville and a Master’s in Geographical Information Systems.
Levente is a software developer with significant expertise of game creation, including; the development of animation, audiovisuals, augmented reality and new technologies at The Pixel Issue and in software development for the Internet of Things at Ericsson. He is now leveraging this expertise to create the next generation of brain data visualisation software for remotely connected EEG devices by leading the development of NeuroVIS. He holds a Masters in Computer Software Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
